Planning Distribution Manager

Job Summary:
The Planning/Distribution Manager is accountable for the management and development of world class material flow through the factory. Specific focus will be placed on ensuring materials planning and distribution methods are executed to support customer delivery requirements. The Planning/Distribution Manager will work closely with the Manufacturing Manager and Purchasing Manager to ensure vendor materials and labor are available to develop strategic manufacturing plans that meets customer delivery needs. Manage the ongoing distribution functions and appropriate interfaces. This role will create and manage a physical distribution network capable of achieving proper inventory levels to support inventory and production objectives.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, direction and supervision of the Planning and Distribution functions to accomplish ideal material flow through the factory, starting with receiving practices all the way through outgoing shipments.
Identify capability levels and training needs of the Planning and Distribution personnel and subsequently develop their capabilities through direction, coaching, delegation and appropriate training.
Plan, direct, and measure material planning activity for all production parts that are shared between factories and those that are sold from inventory. Organize and execute material planning systems functions to optimize Nordson's inventory and customer service positions.
Determine safety stock levels, incorporate inventory policies into inventory level determination and achievement.
Directs and authorizes preparation of production schedules to reflect manufacturing capacities, available manpower, delivery dates, and assures coordination of purchasing with this activity.
Identify and action cost reduction opportunities that drive sustainable results.
Support and coordinate with new product activities and direction to optimize the transition from new product development to production.
Manage all distribution functions and interfaces including order entry, stocking, picking, packing, shipping and receiving, as well as receiving inspection.
Responsible for implementing practices to achieve acceptable inventory accuracy percentages.
Coordinate the movement of material between manufacturing plants. Assure materials, parts and assemblies are stored in an efficient manner and shipments are prepared in accordance with company specifications.
Participate in the development of domestic and international distribution strategies. Implement operating plan objectives to meet established strategies.
Maintain current knowledge of all rules and regulations governing the movement of freight domestically and internationally (C-TPAT). Ensure corporate compliance with transportation and receipt of hazardous material.

Education & Experience Requirement:
Education:
Bachelor's degree is required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in Distribution and/or Planning functions
Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role in Distribution, Supply Chain Management or Operations
Experience in Lean Manufacturing techniques and tools
Demonstrated experience in warehouse management and logistics
Demonstrated experience in material planning and inventory management
Demonstrated performance in achieving cost reduction targets
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Strong personnel delegation, development and coaching skills through previous leadership roles
Requires understanding of logistics and warehousing methods, Plan for every part (PFEP) logic and Inventory metrics including, but not limited to, DSI, Turns and Excess/Obsolete.
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level
Fundamentally sound in all aspects of materials planning and distribution, including financial modeling and analysis, value and cost analysis, etc.
A balanced professional capable of seeing the big picture while managing the details
Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules
Problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively
Proficiency with SAP, Data or Business Warehouse applications & MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint
APICS certification a plus

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
