JOB SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor - Machining will direct, supervise, and coordinate first shift production, provide direction to subordinates guided by established policies and engineering standards, and interpret and execute policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage utilization of manpower, skills, hours, material, and work flow to assure timely production and quality standards. Organize and assign work; instruct, guide and assist employees in the performance of their work. Provide information as requested to engineering, manufacturing services, sales, marketing, etc. Participate in company programs, such as communications, job training, vacation schedules, and job evaluation. Manage the use of safety devices and equipment, supervise departmental housekeeping and maintain constant alert for hazardous conditions. Maintain an adequately skilled work force consistent with planning requirements and work levels. Maintain conformance with company work rules and regulations, issue warnings for violations and administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary. Manage production related supplies. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent. Equivalent is eight years related industrial experience.
Experience:
Two years experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
Two years of prior supervisory experience is required, preferably in a union environment.
Five years of machining experience is required.
PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent communication skills. Ability to see the big picture and plan for the future. CNC and programming language experience. Honest and fair in dealing with subordinates. Willing to put the needs of the team in front of those of themselves. Self starter. ERP (SAP) knowledge. Exposure to union environment. LEAN
Six Sigma concepts would be a plus. Strong computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Project, etc.
