Summary:
The Nord Family Foundation is seeking a Program Officer to manage the Education portfolio.
The Program Officer will work with the Foundation's Executive Director to inform the Foundation's education grant-making strategy to advance the Nord Family Foundation's mission.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Leads the Foundation's Education grantmaking.
Identifies organizations with strong potential for partnership; conducts due diligence and recommends grantee partners with effective track records, internal capacity, and strategic skills.
Evaluates proposals and conducts due diligence, including interviews, site visits, and review of budgets and financial information.
Prepares summaries and makes recommendations concerning grant proposals.
Monitors grantee partner performance by reviewing and summarizing final reports, following up with grantee partners as needed to obtain necessary information, providing technical assistance, and engaging in problem-solving.
Works with grantee partners to ensure compliance with grant agreements and successful program implementation.
Communicates with nonprofit agencies, public and private funders, school leaders, and the general public about the Foundation's grantmaking priorities, guidelines, and proposal review process.
Researches and keeps abreast of issues, trends, exemplary programs, and best practices (nationally as well as locally) in the Education field.
Prepares thoughtful and comprehensive concept papers and research findings as required.
Develops and manages strategic relationships with regional, national and field leaders and shares insights with colleagues that inform the work.
Travel to and participate in community meetings, regional and national conferences.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Education sector in the regions of the Foundation's grantmaking; a willingness to function in other content areas is also required, as the Foundation's programmatic interests may shift from time to time.
Ability to accurately assess nonprofit leadership, operational, and financial capacity and perform other due diligence required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and a willingness to work as part of a cohesive team required; possession of sound judgment, tact, humility, and discretion required in order to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including Trustees, other funders, thought leaders, grant applicants, grantee partners, program beneficiaries, and the general public.
Excellent analytical ability and outstanding written and verbal communication skills required, including the ability to summarize complex issues clearly and concisely and to develop and convey cogent recommendations; occasional public speaking required.
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills; motivated self-starter and can work independently.
Demonstrated ability to think creatively, boldly and handle constructive feedback.

At-least 25% Travel is required.
Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:
Master's degree in a related field.
At least three years of experience in the education field.
A commitment to and track record of working with under-resourced people and communities.
Compensation:
This is a full-time position with a generous benefit package.
Salary is commensurate with experience.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
